Different places. Different times. One Unfolding journey.

OVERVIEW

The Street Had No Name does not begin in one place, or even in one time.

Its story moves between the familiar and the impossible, between a Europe at war and a place that should not exist. At first, the threads appear separate. People act for reasons of their own, often knowing little more than the task immediately before them.

Gradually, those threads begin to draw together.

SOMEWHERE

in its own time

Father Peter Vicarel enters Somewhere by a path he neither understands nor entirely trusts. It is a place with its own rules and its own people. It has its own understanding of what is real. Vicarel arrives as an outsider, carrying assumptions that do not always survive contact with what he finds there.

His journey through Somewhere becomes more than an attempt to understand the place.

Somewhere, it appears, already understands something about him.

EUROPE

1942

By 1942, much of Europe lies beneath German control, its governments broken, occupied or drawn into uneasy alliance. War has transformed the continent, but behind the ambitions of nations lies another purpose.

The Order has spent generations placing people, influence and resources where they will be needed. To most, the war is a struggle for nations and survival. To the Order, it is also an opportunity to reshape Europe, and finally recover what was lost.

FRANCE

1942

France is occupied. For those being hunted, survival can depend upon a neighbour saying nothing, a priest asking no questions or a stranger deciding, for reasons of his own, to help.

An escape begins. It is hurried, dangerous and dependent upon people who cannot know whether the next farmhouse, roadblock or railway platform will bring safety or betrayal.

The destination lies south. Getting there is another matter.

BASQUE LANDS

1942

The journey continues towards the mountains. Behind them lies occupied France. Ahead are the Basque lands, the border and the possibility of escape. Between the two are patrols, uncertain guides and country where a wrong turn can matter as much as a wrong word.

But escape is no longer the only purpose of the journey. Someone is waiting.

And the meeting will reach considerably further than any of them yet understand.

EVERYWHERE

present day

tshnn-separator-logo-dark-40

Order has crashed. What remains is scattered across Everywhere. Old structures have failed and lines of authority have broken. People who once understood their place in things are left to decide what comes next.

Some try to preserve what remains. Others begin asking questions that perhaps should have been asked much earlier.

And somewhere in the aftermath, things that had been safely forgotten are beginning to matter again.

EVERYWHERE

the Order

tshnn-separator-logo-dark-40

Before the Crash, the Order worked quietly within the modern world, its influence hidden behind institutions, wealth and generations of careful preparation.

After the Crash, secrecy becomes less important than survival. Under Klaus von Triffel, the Order draws upon resources, knowledge and loyalties accumulated over centuries. Its purpose remains unchanged: find the Scroll and secure what it contains. What has changed is the world around it, and the limits on what the Order is prepared to do.
